It Does Not Matter Where You Were Married

You may be living in Texas and wondering what laws apply to you if you were married somewhere else.  The Texas Family Code addresses this specifically as follows–

No matter where in the world, or where in the U.S. you were actually married to your spouse, the marital law that applies to you is that of Texas, if you live in Texas.

This means that no matter where you were married, the divorce laws that apply are based on where you currently live.  The original marriage place does not impact things.
